Since their formation in 1983, Fragment has been playing bluegrass throughout Europe and the United States. The Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America awarded the band 1st place at the 1997 Band Championship in Vienna, Austria. As part of the prize, Fragment was offered a three week showcase at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Later that year they would return to the US for an International Bluegrass Music Association showcase at the IBMA World of Bluegrass. In 2002 the band made its Grand Ole Opry debut and finished their tour on the Fan Fest stage for IBMA. From that point on, they returned to America every summer for performances at major festivals and events: Bean Blossom, IN; Summergrass in San Diego, CA; Winfield, KS; Thomas Point Beach, ME; The Legends of Country and Bluegrass Music in Columbia, MS; ROMP Bluegrass Festival in Owensboro, KY. In 2004, Fragment was awarded the #1 European Bluegrass Band at the European World of Bluegrass in Voorthuisen, Netherlands. Individually, members have received numerous awards from a variety of European bluegrass associations.
The band has recorded seven studio albums, featuring self-penned songs and material from Mark Simos, Becky Buller, Carl Jackson and Lisa Ashman, as well as a live recording “At The Leatherwoods” from a North Carolina concert. Fragment has a brand new mini-CD recorded with the renewed lineup of Jana (Dolakova) Mougin, Henrich Novak, Richard Cifersky and Ondra Kozak. From contemporary bluegrass music to original songs, arrangements of western swing tunes, country, gospel music and Americana numbers, Fragment plays good, honest music.
They have toured in 11 European countries and 32 states in America and now, after a two year hiatus, they are returning to the music scene
Jana Mougin - joined Fragment in 1992, originally as the lead singer, but has been the bands bass player since 2000. She graduated from Comenius University, Bratislava with a degree in journalism. Before she became a full time musician she made documentaries in Slovak Television and hosted her own music show on Radio Forte. in Trnava, Slovakia
She was voted Slovak Bluegrass Music Association (SkBMA) Vocalist of the year (1999,2000) and Bluegrass Association of Czech Republic Vocalist of the year (1997, 1998, 2000).
In 2005 she moved to Nashville, TN with her husband Stephen Mougin. In the past few years she recorded/performed with April Verch, Melonie Cannon, Thayer Washer, Pam Daley and Cages Bend.

Henrich Novak - is one of founding members of Fragment. Even though he holds a degree in microbiology, his life is dedicated to music. He has played and recorded with a number of bluegrass formations in Europe, including Bluegrass Album, Nugget and Grasscountry. He accompanied Rose Maddox and Jack Tottle on their European tours.
In 2002 he became the first official Dobro instructor in the School of Music in Trnava. Besides private lessons, he teaches regularly at workshops and music camps all over the Europe.

Richard Cifersky - is an internationally recognized banjo player from Pezinok, Slovakia. He started his career in the band "29 Strings", joined Fragment in 2002 and has since toured with -winning American artists Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike of Bell Buckle, TN. He is a two time winner of the Slovak Bluegrass Music Association (SkBMA) "Banjo Player Of The Year" award (1999/2000), as well as a founding member and past president of the organization. Richard is the owner of the Velvet Music record label and has produced several albums for other groups as well as two of his solo projects"Rainy Day" (2008) and "New Gallop" (2004).
Ondra Kozak - is the youngest and newest member of Fragment (since 2007). He started to take violin lessons in his early childhood and got his first guitar at the age of nine. A short few years later he began playing with the Petr Brandejs Band and his own formation Kreni. Despite his young age Ondra, is in high demand as a guitar instructor at workshops and music camps. In 2008 he released an instructional DVD for bluegrass guitar beginners. He also runs a website with bluegrass guitar tabulatures (visit: www.bluegrassguitar.wz.cz or www.myspace.com/ondrakozak.). In 2008 he graduated with a degree in analytical chemistry and he continues in his PhD studies in the same. Ondra currently studies jazz guitar at The Music Conservatory in Ostrava and, in his spare time, he plays mandolin as well. Besides being one of the songwriters for the band, he was voted Czech Bluegrass Music Association Guitar Player of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
